A Symphony Of Emotions
In my grief,
That you are no longer by my side
I feel the guild of smiling.
This shame for betraying my sadness,
Because how could so much agony
Even be able to see the light of day?
How could so much grief be intertwined with smiles and joy?
For it sometimes feels like all colours
Were scrapped off my heart and filled with black.
Yet on a bright day,
When my body was overwhelmed by pain,
I walked a path we used to share-
Trying to recall those moments by your side,
Hoping a smile might break through my nostalgic mind.
But the sun was too bright
Not to seep into my skin and sorrows,
The flowers, too vivid not to feed my soul.
And as I pass by the lake
The psychedelic reflection of the sky and trees within the water
Pulled me into the present-And I just starea,
And observed.
I observed the dragonflies dancing above the lilies
Floating on the surface of the water,
The fish gracefully gliding through the streams
The clouds that had faces and hearts and all other sculptures
There was an abundance of joy and peace
Even through this pain.
And so, I observed-
How we think that each emotion is in its own individual box
Each to be opened, one by one,
Leaving some to gather dust at the bottom of our hearts.
Instead, it is rather a coexistence of colours and textures on a canvas -
They intertwine,
Flow through and over each other.
But through the happiest or saddest of times,
No colour should define us.
Instead, we should deeply feel and flow through it all-
Through loss or gain,
Feel the heartbreak,
Feel the rage,
Embrace each shade, both bright or bold,
Allow yourself to feel it all.
